An absolutely unique tour for sports fans is now available in Antigua!

You will be met on the pier by one of our experienced and knowledgeable Guides and taken out of St. John’s in an air-conditioned bus to the rurally situated Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, venue for 6 Super 8 round games in the ICC World Cup 2007, for a guided tour of the ground.
There will be a talk by Keith Fredericks (‘Freddo’), himself a cricketer who represented Antigua at regional level, and who is Head Groundsman for the revered ‘ARG’.

There will be time for photographs here, as well as at the following venue when we visit the Stanford Cricket Ground - home of the West Indies Hall of Fame. Having savoured all the bronze plaques and faces of the most famous West Indian cricket inductees, you will go to where they all played for their country – the ‘one and only’ Antigua Recreation Ground.

Home of four existing cricket world records, Freddo will delight in giving you a comprehensive guided tour of both the clubhouse and the ‘hallowed’ ground.

The Antigua Recreation Ground, known locally and globally as the ARG, became cricket's 52nd Test venue in 1980-81 when it hosted England. A Test Match marked by a century from the island's most famous sporting son, Sir Vivian Richards. Despite the relatively small size of Antigua, with just a population of around 70,000, crowds at the ARG are both extremely knowledgeable and fanatical in their passion for this most famous of Caribbean sports.

The centre of social activity was the renowned two-tier Double Decker stand with music and entertainment throughout matches, and where the colourful entertainer, ‘Gravy’, paraded himself - with all wickets and runs accompanied by music and trumpets from everywhere.

Finally, as you have doubtless savoured all ‘fed’ to you so far, for a ‘dessert’ like no other, there will be an approximate 30 to 45 minutes private appearance with just your group by one of Antigua’s cricket West Indian legends, including Curtly Ambrose, Richie Richardson, Sir Vivian Richards, Andy Roberts or Kenny Benjamin!!

Hear in person their memories and experiences of test cricket, take questions, give amusing anecdotes and generally be there just for you. ‘Up close and personal’ it certainly will be and therefore you will also have ample time for autographs (mini cricket bats are available at nominal charge for such purposes) and for photograph opportunities.

So be sure to bring your camera!
